As Liverpool prepares for the fast approaching Capital of Culture year in 2008, it is playing its part in promoting energy efficiency.

For one hour on the 1st November, between 7pm and 8pm the lights on the city's most famous landmark buildings including the Liver Building will be turned off. Local residents and businesses are also being encouraged to participate by turning off all none essential electrical equipment.

The event is just part of a bigger plan to promote energy efficiency across the city region.
