AGA cookers take 'green' approach

AGA Foodservice, the cast-iron cooker specialist, revealed plans today to become Britain’s “green” kitchen supplier as it handed back nearly £60 million to shareholders.

William McGrath, the chief executive, said that restaurants across the UK were wasting £3 billion a year in energy costs because of inefficient fryers and burners.

AGA hopes to pick up swathes of new contracts in the catering sector through a new environmental range and a green code that will help clients such as hotels and football clubs to cut their energy bill and reduce carbon emissions.
